 | History of Dale Music
Dale Music Company Inc. was founded in 1950 by David Burchuk and his wife Rhoda. David was an influential and well known music educator, conductor, and teacher. His work helped to develop the curriculum of Montgomery County, and Washington, D. C. schools. As a music professor at Maryland and Catholic University, he searched the area's few music stores often in vain for musical literature. He began to contact publishers directly to order music, and was often contacted by others for information on how to obtain music scores. This led to his decision to open a music store. The original store was opened on Bonifant Street, June of 1949. The store was named after Dale Drive, one of Silver Spring's most beautiful residential neighborhoods. In 1953 the store moved to its present location at 8240 Georgia Avenue. Following several renovations, the store has several studio rooms for music lessons, an instrument department, books, and accessories, in addition to its large sheet music collection. |

 | Today the store is managed by the Burchuk's daughters, Carol Warden and Joy Burchuk. The store has remained much the same throughout its existence as a member of the Silver Spring community. The staff at the store are all accomplished musicians and many hold degrees in music. The store is known throughout the world for its sheet music departments. Musicians and Organizations from across the country and the world order music and purchase instruments from Dale Music. The business is a work of love. The Burchuk family has always loved and lived music. |
